Why it was removed
Removed as out of documented range for the Edwards Plateau. Muscadine is native to East Texas and requires slightly acid soils; this ground is alkaline limestone. NPSOT’s ecoregion listing does not include the Edwards Plateau, and the plate’s own detail photograph was from North Palm Beach, Florida.
What replaces it
Mustang Grape (Vitis mustangensis) is the correct Hill Country native and is retained in the set. See its plate \u2192
