Sand Spikerush

The core species for the ground that ponds longest. Spikerush spreads by rhizome into a sod that holds mud together, and it handles both standing water and a dry summer. We originally had Torrey’s rush in this slot and swapped it during range-checking — spikerush is the one with records on limestone a county away. Plugs go in on the drawdown, not into standing water; set in saturated soil they rot before they root.
