Why this section stays in production
This field sits higher than the floodplain basin and experiences less frequent inundation. It benefits from upstream filtering and does not need wholesale conversion to perform well ecologically. Keeping part of it in production maintains flexibility, holds a small steady income against the cost of the work, and avoids forcing trees into soils where they do not belong.
